Yup 3 spirit shards from full silverwaste unmodified xp. Well that's plain dreadful, pretty much only shard on ding now. That's way way way slower than anything else for ascended. Can't really gear ascended in anyway fast now unless youre sitting on bunch of spirit shards. Maybe it's even faster wvwing for tomes now hah, to gear in pve.
Getting ascended crafting materials made it more possible to craft all the ascended weapons/armor that are NOT included in those chests, such as Heroic Dragonsblood Weapons, all the craftable portions of Legendary precursor crafting, Refined Envoy armor (precursor to legendary armor), etc. All the other ascended gear is easy to get.
You get currencies to craft ascended stat selectable gear at lower cost. Aditionally, you get ascended weapons and armor as drops from the daily fractal chests. Malicious ascended pieces can become trailblazer gear for free. If you get non malicious armour chests, you can statswap to trailblazer using a mystic forge recipe.
809. Posted September 30, 2017. If you access to Living World Season 3 Episode 6: One Path Ends, you can buy an ascended backpiece for 315,000 Karma and 200 Orrian Pearls. Pearls are much, much, much easier to obtain than Blood Rubies.
Those are the things that can drop by salvaging ascended weapons with an ascended salvaging kit: vision crystal (always, account bound, used in crafting recipes) Ball of Dark Energy (always, account bound, used as a currency and for crafting (as well as legendary crafting)) If you need any of this, then salvage it with the ascended kit.
